BMW doesn’t have to make the best EV. They really just have to make a decent one and brand loyalty can make up the rest. A big sticking point for many people coming from higher end brands is the interior of Teslas. BMW could make a decent EV with a more traditional interior. Another is service. While Tesla does have the service vans getting stuff fixed at service centres does seem to be a challenge for some people. BMW could compete there.

But the reality is that a lot of those PHEVs from BMWs and other tend to have ridiculously short EV range (25km and less), and I be willing to bet that many people buying them don even bother charging them. And their EV mode will typically be under 100hp so you have to drive like an old granny and never get on the highway to remain in BEV mode.

I think that what people are miffed by. People talking about their “attainable dream car” could be talking about something interesting or uncommon that they been looking for and saving towards for years (good), or just a pretty standard hot hatch everyone already knows about or even a fucking passenger van apparently (bad). The term kind of looses all meaning when people just slap it on a car that they bought because they liked it and could afford it, not a car that is actually aspirational to most people. It doesn even need to be expensive to be aspirational, it could be something unique and uncommon like a rare older model that hard to find or someone importing a car they wanted as a kid but was never sold in their country, but a Fiesta and a Transit? It just a bit lame IMO, and opening a post talking about dream cars in the title only to find out it referring to those two is pretty naff.

I agree with some person here. Mercedes and BMW have their own segment. No doubt they engineered and build their car differently. In my mind BMW cars deliver sporty and elegance to their car. BMW cars’ image are perfectly match with young,spirited person who wants enjoyment of driving car in high speed and elegant way. Mercedes cars are build for people who wants to ride a comfort, high class car.

So if you use the IS F to make bfakn.club 56K, then use the Charger SRT8 to make another 22K, that’s 78K, enough to buy a pretty good car, or do a LOT of repairs. Let the clutch out swiftly but not dump it. Then as you let off the clutch, at the last 80% of of the way out start adding gas again. I had my F30 328d for 1.5 years and 20k miles. No problems related to the engine, but it only just touching 50k miles now, I would hope it could last that long. I do have alot of sprinter diesel customers with the 3.0 V6 diesel, most of their issues are emissions related and can be very expensive (if they don travel any to Cali, its pretty much mandatory to delete) other then that, the classic throttle petal issues, about $600 to $900 depending on the year, oil issues with over heating (The 3.0 V6 is like the old Jeep 4.0 when it comes to the oil issues, fantastic engine, runs forever, but if it ever goes over 15 20 degrees over its normal operating temperature, there is no forgiveness, that motors done, $9,000 to $14,000 for a new engine) and the timing chain stretching problems.
