The car: a BMW i3. It has only two seats in the back so width isn’t an issue, but front to back size is. Also, the back doors are suicide doors, so I’ll need to be able to undo the latch connectors and pivot the seat 90 degrees to remove my child while he’s rear facing. I’m concerned that when the seat reaches its upper limits for latch and we need to switch to belt installation, it will get too difficult to operate.

Not only that, my Probe needed an MOT and would not have passed since the speedo and odometer had broken. Ford no longer support the Probe and Mazda (The probe 2.5 24 valve V6 is basically an overweight MX 6) are not too enamoured of selling parts for it either. I love my Britax. I decided to go for the Boulevards because the extra side impact protection was really important to me and the possibility of keeping baby rearfacing longer than Roundabout because of the extra length. If you charge it home it really depends on what you are replacing it with. Many people trade in hybrids or other eco cars for these, which do not run on premium. The fuel savings are there, if you charge at home, but at current gas prices it isn a huge difference. The difference in tire replacement costs and insurance costs more than make up that difference in fuel savings over a more economical car.

Wow, was the car undriveable when you got the drivetrain error? Just took possession of the i3 today, first thing I noticed was gas tank cover stuck, though openable with green latch, needless to say noone at the Carvana knew how that worked. So far I have driven it to drain the battery enough to kick the Rex in emission mode. It sounded a bit louder than another Rex engine on a i3 I had test drove before. Other than that it drives smooth, handling the nation capitol fresh pot holes and uneven roads pretty well. HK sounds is a bit tiny but bass is deep and accurate, my kids fit in the back.
Not everyone is willing to do this. If you not a DIY there not really any way to own an agog BMW inexpensively unless you get extremely lucky. It a game of odds, maybe one in one hundred 3 series are as reliable as your average Lexus IS 350. I much more comfortable rolling the dice on a Lexus.

Every one in my neighborhood it seems has now taken delivery of their model 3 has they are all over the place. It a cool car but it is by no mean a city car, which is what I need. We have a ICE Suv for long range, for now. I have taken delivery of the i3 REX and I can say for sure, I would have been frustrated but the Bev version. Consider it cheating but the Rex extender has proven so far to be worth the extra $$. I coded the car and I have driven with 174 miles of range, light foot and taking advantage of steep downhills with battery Soc hold. I can charge or I can pump, having flexibility is sure sweet.

To make a phone call when the vehicle is in motion, press the “voice” button located on the steering wheel. The computer will say the current Sync setting along with “please say a command”. In my case, the computer always says, “USB, please say a command.” because I always have my iPod connected through the vehicle’s USB port. After the computer asks for a command, you will say “phone”. Speak loudly and clearly enough for the computer to understand you. The computer will then say, “phone. please say a command”. You will then say, “call so and so”. Not “too raw” at all, I did several 3000 Mile road trips with it and I never had an issue with not being comfortable. I daily drove it for 3 years with no issue. The only issue I ever had was the “angry screaming racecar” which attracted too much attention and it wasn suitable for the snow in CO. Also, people in the US suck. 2 years in Germany with it, no issues. First week back in the US someone door dinged me even though I parked in BFE. I miss it but I don will admit, if I kept the M2 it would be less stressful than having a US spec 3 in Germany for road trips and likely more fun on the ring again but take the good with the bad. I still take the 3 over it again any day. Side note, currently being ICE by an Audi.
Yeah the concerns I have lie in the basics. For example, there’s discussion on TMC about things like the steering wheel not being straight at “neutral” on many 3s. To most people this is a small detail. Many may never notice. But to me, as someone who cares a lot about driving and precision, that would be an issue. You need to have it wired into your garage (since you need a high power 240v outlet), and you need a charger to go with that outlet. Usually costs $300 $800 to run the wiring depending on how far your garage is from the electrical box (but it can get much much higher if you need to upgrade your whole electrical box/service to handle the extra power).
I wasn interested in the E90 335d because I didn need the power and the fuel economy wasn all that great. I been crazy happy with the fuel economy I gotten so far, my best tank was 52mpg, it was pure highway miles. Around town with mixed driving I get 38 40mpg. I do have alot of sprinter diesel customers with the 3.0 V6 diesel, most of their issues are emissions related and can be very expensive (if they don travel any to Cali, its pretty much mandatory to delete) other then that, the classic throttle petal issues, about $600 to $900 depending on the year, oil issues with over heating (The 3.0 V6 is like the old Jeep 4.0 when it comes to the oil issues, fantastic engine, runs forever, but if it ever goes over 15 20 degrees over its normal operating temperature, there is no forgiveness, that motors done, $9,000 to $14,000 for a new engine) and the timing chain stretching problems.
