We have two Diono Radian RXTs and I’m not sure what the third carseat is. I’m thinking a Graco or Safety 1st? All three are across in the backseat. One Radian is forward facing my 3 year old on the passenger side, the other Radian is rear facing in the middle for the baby and the third car seat (which will not be in there all the time) is forward facing his 2.5 year old on the driver side. I have a Kia Sorento, but anyone will tell you those Diono Radians are super slim and work well in a lot of vehicles.

I would be concerned about keeping a nicer car safe being that your beater already got broken in to. A civic is nearly as fast (if you not a car person you won notice the acceleration difference), handles better, and has way more luxury features than a 328i. The only two things the 328i has on a Civic is better ride quality and less road noise. If you actually looking for a car that is fun to drive, you can do much, much better for way less money. But seriously, another note on features, the BMW 3 series fully loaded has a serious lack of luxury features compared to all economy brands: Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia all have more and better features than 3 series BMWs.

It doesn really cost anything more in maintenance than any other car if you look after it. Track rods, filters etc will cost you about the average but you probably pay a bit more for tyres because they put out an insane amount of torque (the m54 engine in an e46 3 series puts out 168hp at someyhing along the lines of 155ft lb of torque on a what would be an even lighter chassis than mine in your 3 series), and it rear wheel drive so your car is being pushed rather than pulled.

I chime in here because I have extensive experience with both. The M235/240 has a superior powertrain. It smoother, less peaky, and revs more freely. Body control is also superior on the BMW through the corners, but it does ride harsher than the Benz due to the short wheelbase. The Benz has a hugely superior EPS system and turns in sharper, making it feel like a more aggressive car. The BMW is a lot more playful in the corner, though, where the Benz can be overly neutral.

They don have ABS or TC and they much faster, plus they harder to set up. If you only have a little experience in the Ferrari GT3, I would recommend buying the Merc or the Audi and racing those in IMSA GT3, then progress up the ranks into GTE. We just had our second baby this week and have unfortunately discovered that when our Chico keyfit 30 (behind passenger side for our newborn ) and FF Graco headwise (behind driver for 3 year old) are installed (putting any of these seats in the middle is impossible, unfortunately, both installed with latch) an adult passenger cannot fit in the middle of both our 08 Honda Civic and 06 BMW X3. The Audi TT coupe does not have enough driver leg support. I am 5′ 7″ and had gotten used to very comfortable bucket seats in the Infiniti G35. The TT seats are shorter and do not extend far enough forward to provide the appropriate level of thigh support. I’ve tried adjusting the seat in every possible position to no avail. I also spent hours Googling to see if I could find seat extenders that would work with the TT and could not find any.

I think that it also a bargain on the used market, because if you to to subreddits like /r/frugal everyone just blindly parrots “buy a Honda or Toyota.” Which means that on the used market, you artificially paying more because of the fierce competition. I happily buy a Fusion or a Mazda6. In fact, 3 years ago, I almost listened to the advice. I went and test drove the 1 size smaller vehicles. The Civic was bleh. The Corolla was double bleh. I strongly considered the Focus, but would have had to step back to a 2005 2010 to avoid the Focus PowerShift transmission. So I decided on a Mazda3 instead.

Less frequent maintenance. A Mini doesn’t need an oil change or regular maintenance done every few months like other cars. Instead, you can go two years before having the car checked out. With the standard three year warranty, you can take it to a Mini dealership for it’s first maintenance. However, I like to get my oil changed sooner somewhere else just so it can have clean oil.

To give you an example of why this situation is even detrimental, and why I wouldn want her as a ref. All it takes is one second of distraction in all sorts of sports, to fuck up.
