Yeah the concerns I have lie in the basics. For example, there’s discussion on TMC about things like the steering wheel not being straight at “neutral” on many 3s. I wasn interested in the E90 335d because I didn need the power and the fuel economy wasn all that great. I been crazy happy with the fuel economy I gotten so far, my best tank was 52mpg, it was pure highway miles. Around town with mixed driving I get 38 40mpg. I do have alot of sprinter diesel customers with the 3.0 V6 diesel, most of their issues are emissions related and can be very expensive (if they don travel any to Cali, its pretty much mandatory to delete) other then that, the classic throttle petal issues, about $600 to $900 depending on the year, oil issues with over heating (The 3.0 V6 is like the old Jeep 4.0 when it comes to the oil issues, fantastic engine, runs forever, but if it ever goes over 15 20 degrees over its normal operating temperature, there is no forgiveness, that motors done, $9,000 to $14,000 for a new engine) and the timing chain stretching problems.

It Fairweather fans more than anything. Every single fanbase will sit thru God awful traffic to watch a winner, except one. Their attendance barely went up the year during and after their WS run. Everyone laughs at Dodgers fans for leaving early to beat traffic but at least they got there in the first place.

I believe the glue that holds the whole thing together is DNVGL. They are the trusted, assurance provider that take away the anxiety from things like working with a Chinese company, an unknown startup, or onboarding new tech. In Vechain’s case, all 3 points are valid, so it would take A LOT more than just great tech and partnerships to onboard western companies like BMW. It would take someone that’s respected world wide, has a tremendous reputation of providing certifications, and trusted to deliver on their promise, and that party is DNVGL.

If anything I say get an E90 or E92 if you really want one but know that a lot of them probably will have been hooned in and not as reliable. Also don count your chickens before they hatch. Save up an emergency fund and all that and then work on getting a car.

Yeah the concerns I have lie in the basics. For example, there’s discussion on TMC about things like the steering wheel not being straight at “neutral” on many 3s. To most people this is a small detail. Many may never notice. But to me, as someone who cares a lot about driving and precision, that would be an issue. So if SCs say it’s not a big deal, and owners say it’s not a big deal, all because the product isn’t aimed at enthusiasts, then that’s a potentially greater issue. It means, among other things, that the car isn’t for me.

The interior build quality is not on par with a Porsche but it definitely not bad at all. I actually prefer the interior design to that of a other modern sports cars over driven because it driver centric and doesn feel claustrophobic. I hate large wrap around center consoles and huge dashboards that make me feel like the car is swallowing me. The Evora cabin is fairly open and a generally nice place to be. It has all of the technology I need without anything extra.

3 weeks ago the starter motor went, and thanks to the way the new headers run I had to remove the left side instead of just undoing three bolts and a plug on the starter itself. New starter in and exhaust back on, car tries to start now but has a very slow crank. I jump start it and check the charging voltage, it 12.8V, I figure my alternator must be bad and give up until next weekend.

Someone eventually pays for it.It was, as the experts here knew, the 12V battery. Replaced on warranty, and all is well.Lingering issue is the battery died in 30 months and 8500 miles. If that an expected life, I hope there a source for non OEM batteries at some point. Near as I can tell, no one else sells a battery that fits/works in the i3.Otherwise, this is a great car.

I highly recommend searching around on the web for lease calculators (leasehackr has a great one) and getting the selling price, residual, and money factor for the car that you really want (dealers should give this to you, or you can check the forums on edmunds). Run those numbers through the calculator and see what your lease price should be.

Modern engines have knock sensors and run right at the edge of detonation all the time by design to extract maximum energy out of every drop of fuel. BMW doesn’t have to make the best EV. They really just have to make a decent one and brand loyalty can make up the rest. A big sticking point for many people coming from higher end brands is the interior of Teslas. BMW could make a decent EV with a more traditional interior. Another is service. While Tesla does have the service vans getting stuff fixed at service centres does seem to be a challenge for some people. BMW could compete there.

But the reality is that a lot of those PHEVs from BMWs and other tend to have ridiculously short EV range (25km and less), and I be willing to bet that many people buying them don even bother charging them. And their EV mode will typically be under 100hp so you have to drive like an old granny and never get on the highway to remain in BEV mode.

I think that what people are miffed by. People talking about their “attainable dream car” could be talking about something interesting or uncommon that they been looking for and saving towards for years (good), or just a pretty standard hot hatch everyone already knows about or even a fucking passenger van apparently (bad). The term kind of looses all meaning when people just slap it on a car that they bought because they liked it and could afford it, not a car that is actually aspirational to most people. It doesn even need to be expensive to be aspirational, it could be something unique and uncommon like a rare older model that hard to find or someone importing a car they wanted as a kid but was never sold in their country, but a Fiesta and a Transit? It just a bit lame IMO, and opening a post talking about dream cars in the title only to find out it referring to those two is pretty naff.

I agree with some person here. Mercedes and BMW have their own segment. No doubt they engineered and build their car differently. In my mind BMW cars deliver sporty and elegance to their car. Either way, I’m thinking of possibly a Britax or Radian XT brand for me. There are so many things to consider, including whether I want an infant seat or convertible seat and if I want it to be compatible with the stroller. The Jaguar XK R is the second most powerful car on this list with over 500 raging horses under the hood; it looks fantastic and has a supercharger. So why is it so far down on this list? Weight. Despite having twice the engine displacement and 150 extra horsepower, the XK R is 16 seconds behind the TT RS, the next slowest car on the list, around the Nrburgring. Sixteen seconds! What this goes to show is that, like the Z4, the XK R is probably more comfortable going on a spirited weekend drive around the countryside than it is on a racetrack.
